Native TV rendering
SceneGraph/BrightScript handles the TV experience; a server-side Relay Plan compiler translates supported Canvas Relay scene content for Roku.
Player · Roku
Canvas Relay renders supported board content through a native SceneGraph player, caches Relay Plans for playback, and ties into the same screen-management system as the other players.
Native Roku architecture
Content release remains separate from the Roku app binary
Server translates supported scene content to Roku primitives
Native BrightScript player, not a browser or WebView
Temporary network loss does not empty the app shell
Native beta · Store release in progress
The native player is in physical-device beta testing, but Canvas Relay is not claiming public Roku Store availability until certification and publication are complete.

Publish first, then sign in on-device with your Canvas Relay email and Canvas Relay password—not your Google password. Set it at Settings > Account & security > Set password; this does not disconnect Google. Roku uses no six-digit code.
The player caches its plan/content path so a temporary network interruption does not turn the screen into an empty app shell.
Assign or switch boards from Canvas Relay and let board publishes arrive without reinstalling the Roku application.
Browser-only elements are not silently promised on Roku. Authoring and documentation should surface unsupported content instead.
Content releases and app-binary updates are separate: the developer channel updates the beta now, and Roku Store updates apply once the public listing is live.
No official Roku Store badge or 'Available on Roku' claim should appear until the public listing is actually published. Physical-device certification QA is still a human release step.
See screen management →Not yet. The native Roku player is real and in beta, while public Store certification and release remain in progress. This page will not show a Store badge until publication is real.
Current approved testing: install or open the beta/developer build provided by Canvas Relay; the public Store listing is not live yet. Production Store flow — once the public listing is live: Home > Store/Streaming Store > Apps or Search > Canvas Relay > Add app > Open.
Create or open a board in the Canvas Relay web app and press Publish. Roku lists only published, non-archived boards. Saving a draft alone does not make it selectable on Roku.
While signed in on the web, open Settings > Account & security > Set password. Create and enter your Canvas Relay password—not your Google password. This does not disconnect Google and adds the email/password credential required by Roku's on-device keyboard.
No: there is no six-digit code in the native Roku setup. Sign in on-device with your Canvas Relay email and Canvas Relay password. Browser, Raspberry Pi, Fire TV browser, and Android/Google TV browser players use the six-digit code.
One published board is assigned automatically. If several are available, use Up/Down and OK in the board chooser. If none appears, publish a non-archived board in the web app, return to Roku, and press OK to refresh.
During playback, OK opens published boards, Right opens Account, and Back exits. In the board chooser, use Up/Down, OK to assign, Right for Account, * for Roku Pay, and Back to return.
Press Home, then open Settings > Theme > Screensaver start time > Disable and reopen Canvas Relay. The in-app warning disappears after Roku reports that setting as disabled.
Web Embed, YouTube, Map directions, Dashboard snapshot, and Custom HTML require browser behavior and are not available in native SceneGraph playback. The compatibility guide lists every widget's current strategy.
No. Later board publishes arrive without another sign-in, pairing step, or reinstall. A board/content update is separate from a Roku app update: publishing sends new content, while the current developer channel—and the Roku Store once the listing is live—delivers player-binary updates.
