Connect a Fire TV or Android TV
Use the built-in browser on a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box to run the CanvasRelay player.
A ~$30 Fire TV Stick is the cheapest way to put a board on a TV. CanvasRelay runs in the stick's browser today; a native app (one-click install from the Amazon Appstore / Play Store) is on the roadmap.
Fire TV Stick
- From the Amazon Appstore on the stick, install the Amazon Silk browser (free).
- Open Silk, go to player.canvasrelay.app, and pair with the 6-digit code as usual.
- In Silk's settings, set the player page as the home page so it comes back after a restart.
Android TV / Google TV
- Install a fullscreen-capable browser from the Play Store (TV Bro and similar kiosk browsers work well).
- Open player.canvasrelay.app, pair, assign a board.
- Enable the browser's kiosk/fullscreen mode to hide the address bar.
Worth knowing
- Video plays muted-autoplay only — that's a platform rule on every TV browser, not a CanvasRelay limitation.
- Keep the stick powered from a wall adapter, not the TV's USB port, so it doesn't reboot every time the TV turns off.
