AI Assist is missing, unavailable, or says credits/limit reached

AI is an optional shortcut. Missing configuration hides Assist; quota/credit limits do not block manual CanvasRelay editing.

What you may be seeing

  • The Assist button disappears, an AI action says quota reached, or AI is temporarily unavailable.

What usually causes it

  • AI is not configured/available in the environment.
  • The plan has no/insufficient monthly AI credits.
  • The daily action cap was reached.
  • A provider/model request failed.

Do this

  1. If Assist is absent because AI is unavailable, continue with the normal editor/Data tools; core product editing is not gated on AI.
  2. For quota messages, read whether the reason is the daily cap or monthly credits. Daily caps reset; monthly plan credits follow the billing cycle/plan.
  3. Use deterministic fallbacks where offered, especially Paste text for menu import.
  4. Upgrade only when additional AI entitlement is actually useful; do not upgrade to fix an unrelated screen/player problem.

You know it is fixed when

  • A later eligible AI action produces a reviewable proposal, or the task is completed manually without AI.
