Loop an uploaded video on a TV

Use an uploaded video element for managed looping playback and verify the exact target player's media support before unattended deployment.

What you may be seeing

  • You want a video to play repeatedly on a managed screen instead of manually starting it each time.

What usually causes it

  • Canvas Relay supports uploaded video elements, but codec/container/device behavior can differ across player classes.

Do this

  1. Upload the video to Media and add it as a video element, or start from the Video screen demo/template.
  2. Use a TV-friendly encoded asset and preview the full board before publishing.
  3. Check the target player's compatibility. Browser/Pi use the browser renderer; native Roku media is handled through the Relay Plan and should be tested on the physical Roku.
  4. Publish, assign the board, and let the player cache/download the complete release before judging startup behavior.
  5. For a black frame, failed playback, or codec-specific issue, test a known-good H.264/AAC MP4 rendition before changing pairing or board assignment.

You know it is fixed when

  • The video starts, loops cleanly, and survives a player reload/restart on the actual target hardware.
