Relay Assistant credits, Quick Assists, refunds, and safe changes

Relay Assistant separates Help, Edit, Create, and Credits; eligible verified Google users get daily Quick Assists plus a one-time welcome grant, paid plans include monthly credits, purchased packs do not expire, and technical/model failures restore customer-visible credits.

What you may be seeing

  • A user wants to know which Assistant actions consume credits or why the displayed balance changed.
  • A user wants to know whether an AI edit/import/image can immediately change or publish a live screen.
  • A provider/model error occurred and the user wants to know whether the attempted action still costs customer-visible credits.

What usually causes it

  • Verified Google users can use up to 5 Quick Assists per UTC day for eligible one-credit copy/bulk tasks and receive a one-time 10-credit welcome grant.
  • Creator includes 30 premium credits per month, Pro 100, and Studio/Managed 500; unused monthly included credits reset rather than roll over.
  • Purchased packs are non-expiring: 50 credits for $7, 150 for $17, or 400 for $39.
  • Customer-visible credits are reserved before a model-backed action. Technical/provider failures and rejected model output restore those visible credits; provider-cost accounting remains separate for abuse/cost protection.
  • Menu photo/PDF import and menu planning create a reviewable draft/proposal first. They do not silently replace the board.
  • Generated images are saved to the Media library only. They are never automatically placed on a board or published to screens.
  • Editor AI mutations continue to use preview/proposal rails so the user can review and accept or discard changes.

Do this

  1. Open Relay Assistant → Credits to see daily Quick Assists, monthly included balance, welcome balance, purchased balance, and action costs.
  2. For a menu photo/PDF or menu plan, review names, descriptions and prices in the draft before accepting it; keep auto-layout off if you only want the structured menu data.
  3. For an editor change, review the preview/proposal and choose Accept only when the result is correct; choose Discard to leave the board unchanged.
  4. For generated artwork, open Media after generation, place the saved asset where you want it, then publish normally when the board is ready.
  5. If a technical/provider/model-validation error says credits were restored, refresh the Credits view if the balance has not visually updated yet.
  6. Use Buy credits only for non-expiring purchased balance; subscription plan changes control the separate monthly included allowance.

You know it is fixed when

  • The Credits view shows the expected Quick/monthly/welcome/purchased balances and the intended action cost.
  • A failed technical/model-validation action leaves the customer-visible balance restored.
  • Imported/planned menu content or generated media is only applied/published after the user explicitly accepts/places/publishes it.

Worth knowing

  • Quick Assists are limited to eligible one-credit tasks; when they are exhausted, an eligible action may use premium balance instead.
  • Purchased credits do not expire, while plan-included monthly credits reset on the monthly boundary.
  • Do not tell customers that an AI-generated image is automatically live: generation saves to Media only.
