Roku sign-in for a Google-only Canvas Relay account
Google OAuth accounts need a Canvas Relay password added in web Account & security before the Roku email/password keyboard can sign in.
What you may be seeing
- Roku rejects the email/password even though Google sign-in works in the Canvas Relay web app.
What usually causes it
- A Google-only Canvas Relay account may not have a password hash; Roku requires a Canvas Relay password—not your Google password—and does not open a Google OAuth browser.
Do this
- Sign in to Canvas Relay on the web with Google.
- Open Settings > Account & security > Set password and create a Canvas Relay password of at least 10 characters.
- Return to Roku and sign in using the same email plus the new Canvas Relay password.
You know it is fixed when
- Roku accepts the account and proceeds to registration/board selection while Google sign-in continues to work on the web.
Worth knowing
- Setting a Canvas Relay password does not disconnect Google.
