Something appears in browser preview but is missing on Roku
Web embed, YouTube, Map / Directions, Authenticated Dashboard Snapshot, and Developer / Custom HTML require browser behavior and are intentionally unsupported on native Roku.
What you may be seeing
- A board works in browser/Pi preview but one or more browser-only widgets do not appear in the Roku player.
What usually causes it
- Roku SceneGraph does not provide arbitrary iframe, authenticated browser-session, map-embed, or customer JavaScript runtimes.
Do this
- Treat Web embed, YouTube, Map / Directions, Authenticated Dashboard Snapshot, and Developer / Custom HTML as browser/Pi content; re-registering Roku does not add those capabilities.
- Replace unsupported content with uploaded images/MP4 video, native data widgets, or snapshot-supported Banner, Hours, Menu list, and QR when possible.
- Use the Widgets & player compatibility page for the current registry-generated strategy of every widget, then Publish the replacement.
- Use a browser or Raspberry Pi player when the board fundamentally requires browser semantics.
You know it is fixed when
- The publish compatibility warning is clear and the physical Roku renders every supported element in the new published release.
Worth knowing
- Roku-native/local/data support includes clocks, countdowns, slideshows, tickers, weather and the other registry-classified data widgets. The runtime compatibility registry remains the source of truth.
