Video is blank, skipped, or not behaving as expected
Start by separating unsupported file/size, publish/cache, browser autoplay, and platform-specific Roku transport problems.
What you may be seeing
- An uploaded video does not appear or play correctly on a screen.
What usually causes it
- Unsupported/mislabeled video format.
- Video exceeds upload or player-cache expectations.
- The screen has not activated the release containing the video.
- Browser autoplay/audio policy prevents the expected sound behavior.
- A native-player/platform-specific media transport issue occurred.
Do this
- Confirm the file is a supported MP4/WebM and successfully exists in Media.
- Check Publish warnings for missing/oversized/external assets.
- Check the affected screen's feed/deployment state; do not debug video rendering while it is still on the old release.
- For browser-based TV playback, design for autoplay-safe muted signage behavior rather than relying on audible autoplay.
- For Roku, use uploaded CanvasRelay video rather than YouTube/Web embed and inspect device errors if native video itself fails.
You know it is fixed when
- The target screen is on the current release and the video renders/loops as expected on that platform.
